Great day at the USATF Pacific Northwest Regional Championships at Magnuson Park in Seattle for Tacoma City Running Club - Team JoeFroyo on Sunday, November 25th. Kate Landau and Nicole O’Loughlin kicked the day off in the women’s combined open and masters’ race, and took 2nd and 4th in the women’s race. Kate was the master’s women regional champion.
The second champion of the day was crowned in the men’s combined open and masters’ race as Greg Leak won the regional championship in 25:10. Ben Mangrum placed 3rd in the master’s championship. The men’s team placed firth with strong runs by Dennis Keith, Cameron Freshwaters, Francis Reynolds, Jens Nielsen, and Brien O’Loughlin. Mike Lynes placed 5th in the 50-55 category.

Many thought he had retired to run the quiet trails of Anacortes to search for Sasquatch, or to ponder the relevancy of the yield curve in the 21st century world economy. But no, Dan McLean dusted off the singlet and returned to the starting line last weekend to win the Tunnel Light Marathon in 2:30:26. Was it a one-time occurrence or will lightning strike twice?
Congrats to Greg Leak, Trevor LaFontaine and Kate Landau who set lifetime bests at the Overlake Redmond Town Center Labor Day Half-Marathon this Labor Day morning, September 3rd. Greg placed 3rd in 64:25; Trevor placed 4th in 69:29; and Kate won the overall and masters women's race in 76:19. What a great way to start September. In her return to the track after a 20 year absence, Kate Landau raced to a 35:12.38 10km at the Portland Track Twilight on Saturday night. Kate's time was just 14 seconds off of the American Record for 10km for master's women. Stay tuned for her next track race...
Racing season is upon us - and spring has been good. Congrats to Kate Landau, winner of the Eugene Marathon in an A standard time of 2:35:44; Kayla Campasino, winner of the Washington BDay Marathon; Ben Mangrum, winner of the Tacoma City Marathon; Greg Leak, course record setter at the Hot Chocolate 15km; Brien and Nicole O'Loughlin, lifetime best for the road 5km this spring; and Daryl Phill, debuting at the marathon.
